Jun 10, 2020 · In conventional POTS home analog telephone wiring, one pair (two conductors) carries one line. Homes are usually wired with two pairs (four conductors), so that if two lines (telephone numbers) are desired each pair carries one of the two lines. In classic Bell color coding the pairs are red/green and black/yellow, but many color variations exist. Really you don't need a digital phone. Comcast service is a digital (VOIP) based phone line, but their modem/gateway box acts as an ATA (analog telephone adapter) so you can pug most any phone into it. I would still recommend a cordless phone system though for mobility and ease of use.
