I have seen the greyed out ICON for two reasons. One is the drive was not initially recognized by the system. Sometimes it is required that you pull out and reinsert the drive before it is recognized by the system. Sometimes more than once is needed. The other reason is that the drive is not formatted as FAT32.Take the battery cables off the battery, hold the ends together for 10 seconds then attach them to the battery and see what happens.
