Its likely the boss does not scale well with the max dino level multiplier left at the default setting. (keep in mind that the broodmother starts out with 324000 HP at level 1, and gains 64800 HP per level. Even if it is just a few levels high, you will have to deal a lot of damage to take that down, while tanking the incomming damage.
