The guy that got my motor running and rebuilt the carbs showed me a single screw on the starboard side that he said adjusts the idle. Note the engine speed shown on the shop tachometer; the engine should idle between 725 rpm and 775 rpm. The ideal idle is somewhere near the midpoint of this range, about 750 rpm. Loosen the lock nut on the idle speed adjustment screw with a small adjustable wrench.

You should be able to achieve proper idle speed before the cam hits the roller. Throttle pickup timing (when the cam hits the roller) should be approximatly 4 deg ATDC. Had an ignition issue at end of last year and I replaced stator, timer base, powerpack and voltage regulator. Now, at idle forward it hovers around 650rpms which is great most of the time.
