Participatory action research examples
Action research has a long history, dating back at least to the early twentieth century. It has been practised in many diverse fields—for example, the women’s movement, Indigenous land rights, green and conservation activism, disease prevention and in professional fields such as education, nursing, medicine and agriculture.Characteristically, action research relates to collaboration between researchers and stakeholders to solve organisational problems (Whyte et al., 1991). In action research the researchers co-learns with a stakeholder group. In participatory action research they take a more active role as a member of a community.
