Bioinspired PVP/PAM/PDA hydrophilic drug-in-adhesives patches were developed. • The ketoprofen-loaded PVP/PAM/PDA patches showed excellent skin adhesive properties. • High permeated flux of ketoprofen-loaded PVP/PAM/PDA patches was obtained. • In vivo human study revealed high skin adhesion with low skin irritation of the patches. •
