The areas marked Quaternary Alluvium are areas underlain by unconsolidated gravel, sand, and silt sediments deposited by streams over the last 2.6 million years. The area marked Franciscan Formation is underlain by solid sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks that are over 65 million years old.alluvial soils.
